To be fair, this saddle is hellaciously heavy, being made not of space-age polymers, but good old-fashioned metal, and lots of it. So, lycra-clad weight weenies need not apply.That having been said, it's a remarkably comfortable saddle, and probably the cheapest high-quality saddle that's this wide. It's not terribly well padded, but supports the sit bones well, and the three springs do what they're supposed to, without introducing any annoying sway or play along the way. I like mine enough after half a year that I've bought a second one to use on my other bike. The only complaint I have - other than the weight, which I don't see as a problem - is that the front spring is a veritable squeak factory that will quite quickly drive you insane, unless you grease the pivot points every six weeks or so. You can also drip chain lube on the problem spots if you like, but grease lasts a lot longer; a friend recommended I use a dry teflon lube, which did work... I bought this as part of a restoration of a 1960s-era cruiser, so I was only interested in how the saddle looked. Since I have to store the bike outside, I didn't want a genuine vintage or antique saddle. With the contrasting closed and open springs in back (not visible in the stock photo), and the hairpin spring in front, despite being of modern manufacture, this saddle definitely looks like it came from that era. I did remove the motorcyclish grab bar, which unscrewed very easily, and provided no structural support, as far as I could tell.In riding, however, I immediately noticed an unstable squishiness, which I realized was caused by the saddle rocking from side to side with each pedal stroke. I have other sprung saddles that do not exhibit this behavior, probably because they have hinge mounts in front that do not allow the saddle to roll.
