Last year I purchased a Trek Allant -- it has a retro look, and was screaming out for a traditional basket. This one fit on the front-mount bracket perfectly with a couple of bolts. I usually don't like faux anything, but this faux wicker is the perfect balance between sturdiness and good looks.For those who want to attach this to a different type of bike, you can take advantage of the quick-release mechanism that allows you to take the basket with you once you park your bike. The carrying handle is quite comfortable. Either way, this is the perfect accessory for trips to the farmer's market, short trail rides, or jaunts around town. It's lightweight, roomy, and designed to withstand the elements. It's great - exactly what I wanted. Like another reviewer I have a Trek Allant - the quick-release feature is made to be mounted on the handlebars, but the Allant comes with a basket deck on the front. I was in a hurry the day I got it, so I just zip tied the basket to the deck. Which is working and the zip ties are not visible, so I haven't made any effort to customize something in order to use the quick-release mechanisim - so I can't yet say if that can be easily done or not done at all.It is pretty much exactly as advertised. The bottom of the basket is wire mesh - very practical. It's nice and large and doesn't look "faux." Today I had a 1/2 gallon of milk, a box of pasta, a quart of ice cream and my water bottle in it and I would say it was about 1/2 full. |
